GLAGOLITIC SCHOOL

Since 2003 during spring vacation we organize a course of the Glagolitic script in the St. Lucia’s complex. During a week of learning and playing, the course takers have a chance to get to know the secrets of this old Croatian script in the restored part of the Glagolitic abbey of St. Lucia’s, in which the most significant Croatian Glagolitic inscription emerged.

The first step of the Glagolitic literacy course is learning the squared (Croatian) Glagolitsa. On the second level of the course the oldest type of this script is learned – the round Glagolitsa, and the experienced ones on the third level are being qualified for reading handwritten Glagolitic texts.

There is also an art workshop organized where the frequenters of the course can creatively play with the Glagolitic script. Former workshops resulted with very imaginative and interesting work.

Every year the frequenters of the Glagolitic school in Jurandvor go to an one-day or a half-day excursion, on which they discover the pearls of Glagolitic tradition and have fun.

Join us next year! Former course takers have mostly been elementary school students, but the course is open for all ages. Those who are interested can contact the agency «AZ» (see INFO).

In July and August on the island of Krk (in Kornić, Omišalj and Punat) there are held other courses of the Glagolitic script.
